ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Angie McMurtry. Watching people grow, overcome challenges, and discover their strengths is what gives me purpose. I feel honored to walk alongside clients on their journey and believe that meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. I aim to wake each day with purpose and end it with the satisfaction of knowing I have made a positive difference in someone’s life.

EDUCATION

I received my bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music from Minnesota State University at Mankato. I am in the final stages of earning my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My education and clinical training have provided opportunities to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, strengthening my commitment to compassionate, client-centered care. I have the intention of receiving my LPCC.

WORK EXPERIENCE

My professional journey has allowed me to support people in a variety of settings and stages of life. In addition to working as an elementary school counselor, I have served as a housing case manager, independent skills worker, vocational rehabilitation worker, and recreational therapist at a state psychiatric hospital in Florida. These experiences have given me a well-rounded understanding of the many challenges people face and the different types of support they may need throughout life.

I work with children ages 3 and older, adolescents, and adults. I strive to create a comfortable and trusting environment where clients can be themselves without fear of judgment. I believe in meeting people where they are, honoring their unique experiences, and working together to identify meaningful goals and lasting solutions. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions to support each client’s growth and well-being.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my fiance and toddler, disc golf, drinking iced coffee, and watching documentaries.
